
The official designation once limited to Ross, Mill Valley and the Tiburon area now accurately describes every town in Marin County, according to the most recent U.S. census. "We're thrilled to announce that everyone who lives in Marin today can factually state that they live in an affluent enclave," said the county's commissioner. "Obviously this does not include Novato, who we wish well in their future endeavors."
While officials acknowledge that not every Marin resident is well-off, they say that those individuals are now fully surrounded by people who are and should feel increasingly unwelcome in their communities. While that process could take some time to play out, towns across the county are wasting no time updating their status. Crews will begin replacing highway signage this week — i.e., Now Entering Corte Madera, Affluent Enclave of 9,947"
