Sociologists studying relationships in Marin County say that couples they interviewed can’t even imagine cheating on each other.

“First of all, with who?” said Trent Braggins, of Larkspur. His other half, Sheila, was equally incredulous. “By the way, even if you could find some decent tail around here — not possible, trust me — where would this tryst be happening?”

That’s the key to the region’s remarkably low rates of infidelity, researchers say: “In a nutshell, no one to boink and nowhere to boink them.” They point to the fact that everyone in Marin is already either married or cohabitating, and that close-knit communities of nosy neighbors make carrying out an affair next to impossible anyway. “In retrospect we should not have expected to see much secret sexual activity in a surveillance state with no single people,” they added.

The Braggins agreed with the findings, attributing their two-plus decades of undisturbed monogamy to the demographic and logistical challenges of cuckolding each other. “It's not something we even think about, having gamed it out from every angle and concluded that it cannot be done," Sheila said.
