Authorities nabbed a mother and father who failed to take their three kids to Lake Tahoe over ski week, with both parents facing serious jail time. “This is one of the most disturbing cases I've seen in a long time,” said deputy Finn Hartenstring, of the Marin County Sheriff Department. “Acting on a tip, we entered the home during mandatory Tahoe time, and found the entire family doing more or less nothing.” Officers were not able to locate a single piece of snow gear during a search of the home, leading all three children to be removed by Child Protective Services.
Reached for comment at Marin County Jail, the disgraced father was unrepentant – and said he intended to take his case to Marin’s Supreme Court. “We don’t ski and think it should be legal not to.” As of press time, the man had been placed in protective custody after being targeted by inmates who discovered the nature of his crime.
