The endless string of warm, clear days provided by Marin County in Q3 of 2025 would almost certainly be considered a stellar offering in any other part of the country. But many residents here hold the climate to a higher standard.

“People in San Francisco see that it’s partially sunny and 68 and immediately head to the park in a G-string,” said Alex Yonni, one of Marin’s more implacable analysts. “We don’t get out of bed for anything under 75, and temperature is only one of several key metrics we look at.” Chief among those criteria are fog (“non-starter”) and wind. That hazardous form of moving air was the key issue in July and much of August, dragging down ratings for an otherwise solid season.

The county does have time to close out the year on a high note with the onset of second summer. “The pressure is on for Marin to be near-perfect in September and October,” Yonni added. “Especially with our short, mild winter right around the corner."
