"Microcrime", a troubling form of misconduct with no legal remedy, is increasingly rampant in Marin County. In one recent example, a pair of teens inexplicably lobbed several soda cans onto a tennis court in Strawberry; they also stand accused of attacking an electric vehicle with organic eggs. Their microcrime spree was breathlessly documented online by the local community, which no longer believes such matters can be privately resolved.

Age is a major risk factor for microcrime, the vast majority of which is committed by teenagers, or “microcriminals.” But even with huge numbers of pubescent individuals roaming the county, police say residents need not be concerned. “We don’t keep records of this kind of activity, though we are frequently forced to respond to it,” said Sargent Blaine Morales. "We suspect this phenomenon is mostly a factor of Marin having very low levels of actual crime, while being home to the same percentage of busybodies you would find anywhere else."
