San Anselmo has already established itself as the most tyke-friendly town in Marin through a never-ending series of irresistible street festivals, family-forward local businesses and a generally pro-natalist civic culture. But now it's upping the ante even further.

“You can just drop them off here whenever,” said the San Anselmo's mayor, of your kids. “We’ll child-proof the entire downtown and safely pen them in.” He added that there would be face-painting, bubble machines and other fun activities to keep the tots entertained any time you don't want to watch them. "We know that's a lot of the time," she said.

But don't assume the town is providing round-the-clock childcare out of the kindness of its heart. Studies show that eating, drinking and shopping are the most popular activities for parents who are not actively monitoring their offspring, and the town sees you as a boon to its economy. "Neglectful parents are big spenders," the mayor added.
