First of all, a warm hello to our longtime readers and new subscribers. Many in that second group came to us after reading a hard-hitting interview in the Pacific Sun by Marin news-gathering legend Nikki Silverstein. She got everything right, apart from the fact that she seems to be under the impression that we are not a serious, fact-based organization. Please allow us to set the record straight.
Our role at Marin Lately is to keep you informed and up-to-date. For example, last week, with the country in turmoil – senators in headlocks, politicians being assassinated, Marines in L.A. — we responded with a powerful story about a misgendered owl. That's the kind of reporting you can expect from our newsroom, no matter what is going on in the world.
But we don't just bring you the big headlines. We tell you what's happening on the ground in Marin County – whether or not the town of Nicasio is closed for a private event, or the bittersweet news that Novato is being phased out. Do follow our local coverage, as in the coming weeks we will be releasing our annual list of the top ten restaurants in Woodacre.
We also realize that after reading the Pacific Sun article, some of you may be clamoring for even more background — who we are, where we live, and other info you need to send us money. Unfortunately we are not at liberty to share those details, but we do want to make sure you have a way to get in touch.
Our email is latelyeditorialdept@gmail.com
We kindly ask that you not abuse our inbox, which is primarily reserved for hate mail – feedback we actively welcome and find quite useful. But you can also reach out to us with story ideas, tips and real estate opportunities.
We'll end this interminable bit of housekeeping by saying thank you for reading, and gently placing some the onus for our success on your plate.
You might not be fully aware of this, but Marin Lately has spread entirely by word-of-mouth – someone forwards our newsletter to a friend, an article gets passed around the office, or some smart and good-looking person posts it online. We do not promote Marin Lately in any way and never have, so its life is very much in your hands. Please continue to share Marin Lately with the bright and clever people in your life. Failure to do so makes you an accessory to murder. No pressure, though – we know everyone's busy.
Thanks and we'll be back next week!
