To cross the threshold of this town’s only pharmacy was to enter the disquieting minds of Rite Aid executives whose every decision was intended to demoralize and disrespect customers forced by injury or illness to engage with their malevolent corporate strategy. And yet, people are sad to see it go. “To be clear, I’m on dialysis and need access to medication,” said one old-timer who turned out to fulfill one last precious prescription. “That’s what I’ll miss the most about this place – the pills I need to stay alive.”
